Viet Nam hosts Asia-Pacific e-commerce plenary meeting

HCM CITY (Biz Hub)— Domestic and foreign experts in e-commerce and information technology exchanged notes on Friday during the 31st Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT) plenary meeting in HCM City.
EDICOM, the annual international conference and exhibition of AFACT, featured the latest technology and information on e-business solutions at nearly 30 booths during the three-day event which ended on Friday.
Fifteen projects in trade facilitation and e-business received eASIA awards, a biennial awards event that recognises efforts within the AFACT community.
The electronic bank realisation certificate project of India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade won first prize in the trade facilitation category.
The FPT Information System Company was given a first prize in e-business in public sector category for an electronic customs clearance system (e-customs) for Viet Nam’s customs.
Taiwan’s CyberSoft Digital Services Corp was given a first prize in e-business in private sector category for the best practice of secure mobile payment for electronic business project.
The first prize for bridging digital divide category was given to the APEC digital opportunity centre project of Taiwan’s Institute of Information Industry.
The event was organised by the Viet Nam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade.
AFACT, a non-profit, non-political, voluntary and independent oraganisation, has 19 members in the Asia-Pacific region.
The 2014 APACT meeting will be held in Thailand. —VNS
